MODALISBOA 2016: SANGUE NOVO

ModaLisboa continues to encourage the discovery and promotion of new talents of the Portuguese Fashion and the development of emerging independent brands, through the Sangue Novo (Young Blood). Applications for the next edition of the competition are being held until June 30, 2016.

Seeking innovation, irreverence, creativity and new views on fashion, the Sangue Novo young designers contest within Moda Lisboa’s fashion week wishes to highlight the strength and talent of new generations of designers to define, together, the future of the fashion industry in Portugal.

Sangue Novo aims to all portuguese finalists of Fashion Design courses, from national and international colleges, and young designers who have finished their degree and who are looking to start their own fashion brand.

Each candidate must submit a unique collection for Spring/Summer 2017 – either menswear, womenswear or a combination of both. After an individual assessment of each project, the jury of specialists – which consists of the president of the Association ModaLisboa, Eduarda Abbondanza, and other experts in the field – will select 8 to 10 projects to be presented at the Sangue Novo fashion show, integrated on the 47th edition of ModaLisboa – Lisbon Fashion Week, in October 2016.

The award for the designer of the best collection, chosen by the jury of Sangue Novo, will be a Master Level Certificate in the Fashion Area, an eight-week course at the prestigious academy of design, Domus Academy, in Milan.

Within the established exchange partnership between ModaLisboa and the Dutch Fashion Festival, FashionClash, one of the designers will be invited to represent Portugal in the Maastricht event, which brings together emerging talent from around the world.

This season, thee lucky designers who were selected to represent Portugal at fashion Clash in The Netherlands and attend the course in Milan ‘s Domus Academy are David Catalan and Patrick de Padua.

At Juste, we also liked the capsule collections by Banda, Sara Santos and Tania Nicole.
